Happy Monday Everyone! Kicking off this week after a working weekend full of recipe testing and plans for the future. Does anyone else feel weirdly calm after spending some quality time making plans? This is weird to admit/type, but I absolutely dread not knowing what is around the corner. Be it, I don’t know what I’m going to have for dinner tonight, or I don’t know what country I will be living in next year, I just HATE not being in the know or having some sort of control over things that directly affect me. That sounds so odd when I read it back but it’s so true haha! Anyway, today I’m blogging about my Recalibrated Bodies Review.
Over the past few weeks you’ll know from my Snapchat (niamhos21) and Instagram (and this post) that I’ve been working with Amanda and Daniel from Recalibrated Bodies to try and whip my ass into shape for the Summer. I’ve finally finished up my six week program and I honestly couldn’t be happier for so many reasons. I really am so grateful to them for how they have genuinely changed my life and given me back some sanity over the past few weeks. That might sound a little extreme, so I’m going to explain exactly why I wanted to work with them, how their program works, and what I loved the most about it all.
Why did I start…
I absolutely adore social media for bringing so many things and people to your attention that you never would have heard of otherwise. I had seen a lot of the fitness community in Ireland talking about Recalibrated Bodies for a while before I started to get curious myself. At the time when I decided to go with them above anyone else, I did so because all I was seeing was amazing transformation photos. As I read through all of the captions on these photos I noticed a common thread of people who were saying how they were eating more than ever and feeling a lot happier in themselves whilst working with people who they trusted. I have absolutely zero education in food or fitness. Anything fitness related that I have shared previously has just been a subset of a much bigger picture that I was particularly enjoying at that time. If it was a bum workout, or an ab workout that I shared, that wasn’t the only workout that I was doing every single day, it was just a series of exercises that I enjoyed doing as a subset of a longer/bigger workout. So anyway, I got in touch with Recalibrated Bodies after months of aimlessly working out and trying to figure out my diet on my own. Yes, I had gotten advice and programs before, I had done so much research, but I just needed a change because my body was not responding to these anymore. I had hit a plateau in progress and in motivation. This, inevitably led to overeating and increased weight and I was just so unhappy in myself because I felt as though I had “fallen off the wagon” so to say. I know that I was never fat or even close to it, but I think when you lose bit of confidence in what you’re doing, and lose your way a bit, you can begin to feel a bit useless. I wasn’t confident in my body so I wanted to change. Maybe someone else would have been happy finishing at my starting point, but I wasn’t and that’s all that matters to me personally. It’s your body and you need to do with it what makes you happy and confident. I am 1000% one of those people who emotionally eat, so when I felt like I had lost my way with fitness I obviously thought “sure I may as well keep going, I’m not in shape anyway”, which is the WORST way to be.
How it works…
So firstly, the program began with me sending all of my measurements over and filling out a lifestyle questionnaire complete with my favorite meals that I eat. Within maybe 2 days, I had my meal plan and my training plan in front of me, ready to go. I opted for the full meal plan too by the way, I just needed to cut out all guesswork and be told exactly what to do and most importantly, WHEN.
I was given four workouts a week, with the option to do some light cardio on the fifth day. I was given more meals than I had eaten in a long time and I was happy out!
Every single week of the program I was sent an email reminder to check in with the guys at the weekend. This entailed sending over the updated measurements of my waist, hips, thighs, and weight.
The aspects that I loved…
Like I mentioned previously, I am a creature of habit who loves knowing what is coming next. Having this set schedule and structure in place meant I could relax and know that this part of my life was being looked after. Confidence in what your doing, and having that positivity there leads to positive results. What worked best for me, was knowing that every Saturday I was going to have to measure myself and send these results over in an email. That definitely helped me to stay on track when I was on the verge of throwing in the towel. This plan was surprisingly easy to stick to, because from the get go, they only put the food that I loved on my meal plan. I never once felt deprived.
- 7.5cm down on my waist
- 2cm down on my hips
- 1cm down on my thighs
- Down 4.9% body fat
- Gained 0.8kg of muscle
- Down 3KG in weight
Need I say more? I’m so delighted with my results I can’t even describe it. I was so shocked, especially about my waist! WOOOOO!
Would I recommend it?
What I’m wearing…
This entire look is from Lorna Jane at ElleBelle Fit. This is the Bambini Sports Bra, which let me tell you, gives me the most amazing lift ever haha! The pants are the Aura Core Stability 7/8 leggings and they are so comfy! I’m obsessed with the detailing on them.
I hope that this post was insightful to anyone who may feel apprehensive about committing to a new plan or even if you’ve never tried one before and don’t know what it consists of. I honestly couldn’t recommend introducing this structure into your life enough. It eliminates the stress and guesswork of managing your energy and food levels in this busy day and age. I managed to do it while living full time in New York where the smell of pastries and pizza literally follow me around on a daily basis. I also managed to (almost) stay on track whilst on holiday in Chicago, and while working in LA for a week. Not to mention having a great weekend of food and drinks over the 4th of July. This was not at all a strict depriving diet, it was a lifestyle overhaul and one which I am sticking too from now on.
Have a super week and I hope everyone enjoyed the bank holiday!
