Stuck in a Moment

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been stuck in the mother of all ruts lately.

My fitness, sleeping and eating habits have all gone sailing out the window and I’ve never felt so sluggish. I would say that I’m not one for excuses, but I absolutely am (just being honest here). My excuse this time is summer in New York. Stuck in a Moment, ShadowBox, Boxing Class, Boxing Class NYC, Physique57, Physique 57, Barre Class, Barre Class NYC, NYC Fitness Blogger, Irish blogger, adidas women, adidas, Niamh O'Sullivan, Cinnamon Soul,

I hate the humidity, and so does my hair and makeup. It’s not fun. I’m terrified of damaging my skin so I usually just sit in the shade whenever I can, and then I always forget to put on fake tan. So then when I have to expose my see-through skin on my arms and legs, I get all sorts of self conscious. Help!

In all seriousness though, something about the humidity zaps my energy, and puts me in the crankiest of humors. I was the exact same last summer too, ask any of my friends (I’m pretty sure they’re still talking to me). But anyway, I’ve been trying to get out of the funk, especially the fitness funk. As I mentioned above, summer means there’s really no hiding your body in cosy jumpers and jeans, so I really do want to try and feel more confident. Stuck in a Moment, ShadowBox, Boxing Class, Boxing Class NYC, Physique57, Physique 57, Barre Class, Barre Class NYC, NYC Fitness Blogger, Irish blogger, adidas women, adidas, Niamh O'Sullivan, Cinnamon Soul,

One way I’ve been doing this is through trying new fitness classes around the city. I swear, buying these crazy expensive classes in bulk, A) works out cheaper, and B) forces you to try something new and mix up your routine. There are so many fitness classes in NYC, but these are two that I am loving right now.

ShadowBox

The first class that I completely fell in love with was ShadowBox. I had heard so many good things about boxing classes. After my first one, I literally skipped home and would not shut up to my roommates about how boxing was the best thing since sliced bread. I think I also mentioned to them that it was the first ever class that I didn’t want to end. It was such a stress reliever and I swear I have never sweated so much in all of my 25 years. I was head to toe drenched. I was definitely a little on the self conscious side walking the 20 minutes home with the reddest cheeks in Manhattan and a sopping wet head. It was so worth it though. Stuck in a Moment, ShadowBox, Boxing Class, Boxing Class NYC, Physique57, Physique 57, Barre Class, Barre Class NYC, NYC Fitness Blogger, Irish blogger, adidas women, adidas, Niamh O'Sullivan, Cinnamon Soul,

Physique 57

The second class that I went for was Physique57. This is a 57 minute barre class located in a few different locations around the city. I went to the 57th street location to force myself to get some added cardio in by having to walk up to each class. If you haven’t heard of barre before, it’s essentially isolated interval training of specific parts of your body. I’ve probably done an awful job of explaining that, so maybe check out their site for a better explanation. It’s so hard but the class actually flies. If you have done it before, you’ll know it burns like crazy! Such a fun workout and I would highly recommend!

So yeah, if you find yourself in an annoying little funk, I would definitely recommend shocking your system and handing the control of a certain aspect of your life over to someone else. I know I can be good and disciplined in the gym, but if I’m not in the humor, it’s not happening. I found signing up and committing to these classes when I was in the right state of mind was so helpful and got me somewhat back on track and feeling good again.

Happy Tuesday Guys and Gals. X
